Emergency Response Team - Hilton San Diego Bayfront takes every precaution to protect your safety and well-being. As part of our efforts, we have created an Emergency Response Team to prepare for and handle unavoidable emergency situations. There is a manager and professional security and engineering Team member on duty 24 hours, 7 days a week. To help our Team ensure the security of all Guests, please review the following emergency procedures

 

Getting Familiar with the Hotel 

Soon after checking in, please: locate the nearest fire exits, fire alarms and extinguishers; review the evacuation procedures on the back of the door; count the doors between your room and the nearest fire exit; and find a consistent place to keep your room key.

 

Know Your Room's Layout

Please memorize the layout of your room in case you have to escape quickly in the dark. Keep the key near the bed so you can find it easily and take it with you. If smoke or flames are thick in the hallway, it may be safest to return to your room to wait to be rescued.

Earthquake Safety 

Please Follow These Procedures in the Event of an Earthquake

1. Stay calm and inside the room. Get under the desk or in a doorway. Stay clear of windows.

2. When the earthquake subsides, remain in the room and wait for instructions. If necessary, walk to the emergency stairwell nearest the room and walk down to the street level. Do not use the elevators. 

3. Please remember that after a severe earthquake, local public safety departments will be overloaded and may not be able to respond immediately. The hotel has an emergency generator and ample supplies of food, water and first aid equipment

 

Fire Safety

IF FIRE BREAKS OUT TAKE THE PROPER ACTION! 

If a fire breaks out in your room, get out immediately and close the door tightly behind you. Pull the nearest fire alarm. If possible, report the fire to the hotel Operator. 

If Fire Breaks Out In Another Part of the Hotel, Grab Your Room Key!

1. Take your room key and head for the door. If smoke is in your room, crawl. Quickly gather clothing and shoes if it is cold out. 

2. Feel the door with the back of your hand. If it is hot, do not open it. If you do not feel heat from the door, open it slowly. 

3. Check the hallway. If it looks clear, close the door behind you and walk to the nearest exit. If smoke is visible, crawl close to the wall. Count the doors as you go. If your primary escape is blocked, use an alternative one or return to your room. Do no use the elevator. 

4. Walk down the exit stairwell to the ground level and safety. Remain as calm as you can and hold the handrail. If smoke becomes dense, exit from the stairway to another floor. If exit to the roof is necessary, turn around and head up the stairs, following the signs on the wall at the floor landings.

 If the Door Is Hot, Stay In Your Room! 

1. Wet towels and sheets and place them around doors and cracks to prevent smoke from seeping in. Cover your nose and mouth with a wet cloth. Turn of the heater or air conditioner.

2. Fill the tub with water in case you need it to moisten walls and towels or to use the ice bucket to pour water onto the fire.

3. If the phone works, call the Operator and state your room number. 

4. If smoke is in your room, remove the drapes and curtains. Do not break the windows unless advised to do so by the firefighters. 

5. If you must exit your room, crawl low in smoke filled areas and try to remain calm.

 

Guest Privacy

We understand and respect your need for privacy. The hotel reserves the right to visually inspect all guest rooms every 24 hours to ensure the well-being of our guests and confirm the condition of the room.
